Dental specialists complete two to six extra years of training after dental school and usually work on referral from a general dentist, although most accept patients who call directly. Orthodontists straighten teeth with braces and clear aligners; endodontists handle root canals; periodontists treat gum disease and place implants; oral and maxillofacial surgeons extract wisdom teeth, place implants and do jaw surgery, often under IV sedation; prosthodontists rebuild smiles with crowns, bridges and dentures; denture centers focus on full and partial dentures, relines and repairs. Sedation and hospital dentists serve anxious patients and people with special needs, while TMJ and sleep-apnea dentists make oral appliances for jaw pain and snoring.

The best dental experience in my life! Dr. Stephens and his team work in concert so efficiently that the human mind cannot process what is happening until the procedure is complete. If you have any fear at all, go to Dr. Stephens for a pain free visit, they are amazing!

Staff was very friendly. You can tell even with their patient load- they strive to have great customer service which is rare nowadays. Dr. Stephens was excellent and answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns/preferences with bone grafting. Very professional. Keep up the wonderful job.

Went to both Decatur and Springfield office for my daughter (15 y/o) as a start to a very involved oral surgery later this year. Everyone treated us like people not a number. Spoke with my daughter, not just me, encouraged questions and made us both feel welcome. Would highly recommend.

Nice doctor but the office REFUSES to assist in getting reimbursement from insurance even after they have been paid what they charge. Procedure was prior authorized by insurance. RIDICULOUS and GREEDY *** all we requested from this office was a tax ID number for US to submit a claim. We weren't asking you to submit the claim for us. The office staff said not only would they not assist by providing information but tried to say we were not ALLOWED to ask for reimbursement. This is a covered benefit from insurance. You got your money upfront. It is none of your business if the insurance pays us back - which they did. Unnecessary hard feelings / hassle created by this doctor's staff. Why? BTW - your tax id number is right on the bottom of your statements.
